Frequently Asked Questions
Are You Taking New Patients?
RSK Psychiatry currently has limited virtual appointments available on Fridays. In-person appointments and virtual appointments on other days are currently full. You can indicate your availability on the intake form on the Forms page. If your preferred times are full, you can be added to the waitlist for the next available opening.
How Long is The Waitlist?
There is no exact answer. Scheduling and waitlists are constantly in flux. Virtual appointments are often available sooner than in-person appointments. RSK Psychiatry will make every effort to give you a time estimate based on your schedule preferences after you complete an intake questionnaire.
Why Don’t You Take Insurance?
Modern day health insurance is a middleman that adds very limited value to patients or doctors. It increases overall costs and creates headaches for everyone involved. Insurance companies often try to dictate care doctors provide by refusing to pay for recommended treatments or making doctors attempt initial treatments that are focused on saving costs rather than being effective. Additional paperwork, increased staffing needs, delays in payments to physicians and patients alike, all create a frustrating system that leads to unhappy patients and doctors. RSK Psychiatry encourages patients to submit out-of-network claims to their insurance using our superbills.
Why Are You So Expensive?
There is no getting around it. Modern day healthcare is expensive. A limited supply of doctors, long years of training, excessive amounts of debt, increasingly sophisticated technology, and inflated costs related to insurance and administrative tasks all contribute to high health care costs. At RSK Psychiatry, listed prices reflect current market rates. Although insurance may lead to a lower out of pocket cost for the individual, RSK Psychiatry rates are similar to total system costs with insurance after accounting for out-of-pocket payments, premiums, and reimbursements to practitioners.
I Can’t Afford You, But I Still Need Treatment. Can You Help?
RSK Psychiatry offers a limited number of sliding-scale payment appointments for individuals making less than $100,000 a year. You must provide paystubs dated within the past three months to be eligible. These appointments are currently filled but you are welcome to complete intake paperwork to be added to the waitlist.
Why Do You Have So Many Rules? I Just Want My Medications Refilled!
RSK Psychiatry believes in transparency. As much information as possible is provided upfront so you know what to expect. Please consider the listed policies and philosophy when deciding if RSK Psychiatry is right for you.
Why Don’t You Have After-Hours Services?
Staff at RSK Psychiatry enjoy their families and free time as much as anyone else! It would be disingenuous to focus on patients achieving their maximal well-being in life while ignoring our own well-being.
